Many organizations now offer mobile applications and websites to their end-users. With this relatively recent shift away from providing strictly non-mobile websites and applications, organizations should be aware that mobile applications are generally covered by the same accessibility standards as non-mobile software and web content. AMP provides mobile best practices and auditing capabilities for both the Android OS and iOS.  Organizations should aim to stay ahead of the curve by ensuring that their mobile applications and mobile websites meet the accessibility requirements of standards such as Section 508 and the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines. This will ensure that organizations will reach the largest possible audience with enticing and accessible mobile offerings.

AMP is a web application that leverages mobile best practices to guide and assist users with the testing of mobile applications.  These best practices drive Level Access’s Unified Audit Methodology, which takes all of the guesswork out of accessibility auditing. Level Access accomplishes this by providing accessibility testers with a unified testing checklist that has clear instructions on how to accurately detect any accessibility violations or concerns. Moreover, this methodology ensures that multiple testers stay on the same page when conducting testing.  Ultimately, this produces more accurate and congruent audit reporting results throughout an organization. Each best practice guarantees access to a description of the best practice, non-compliance and compliant code level examples, ways to fix the issue, step-by-step instructions on the testing process and links to related accessibility standards.

Once an audit is complete, reports are stored centrally in AMP. This provides a comprehensive reporting structure that gives inline guidance on how to address any violations detected during the auditing process. This is coupled with intelligent violation modeling that, for example, provides guidance on the priority of which violations should be addressed first for the most positive overall impact on compliance levels. This information is extremely valuable information for Product and Development Managers to have when estimating and evaluating required remediation efforts for an organization.

AMP is currently adopted by a wide variety of organizations, including Fortune 500 companies. These companies range across many industries, including education, financial services, software, Federal agencies, and state and local government. AMP provides exceptional flexibility in adapting to new or existing accessibility auditing processes within an organization. AMP is also very easy to use and can be effectively implemented by designers, developers, quality assurance personnel and risk and compliance officers. Additionally, since AMP is offered as a Software as a Service (SaaS), implementation is rapid and assisted by industry experts at Level Access. In addition to its auditing capabilities, AMP also provides many e-Learning courses to accelerate the learning process for all users. Additional information on AMP can be found at this link.
