Accessibility Management Plan

AMP’s powerful testing engine and work flow, accessible development best practices and extensive training course library allow organizations to quickly and efficiently incorporate accessibility compliance into existing development processes. This ensures organizations have the infrastructure to rapidly conform to accessibility standards in a cost effective fashion. Once a baseline level of conformance has been implemented AMP provides the support to track and maintain compliance over time. It accomplishes all this while providing an on-demand, cloud based ownership model drastically reducing total cost of ownership and overhead for accessibility efforts.

Auditing and Testing

Auditing is a critical aspect of any accessibility program. A successful audit will identify and prioritize all accessibility problems, define a method for addressing those issues, and document the system’s overall compliance with Section 508, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG), and other accessibility standards.

AMP provides the ability to perform formal and informal compliance testing across a variety of accessibility standards and technologies. Based on our proven Unified Audit Methodology, AMP’s testing support extends from the ability to perform in-browser, quick page tests to scanning complete enterprise level websites. AMP supports a wide degree of formality in testing from quick, page specific tests to full, formal compliance audits of systems.

Access Assistant

Access Assistant, a toolbar for Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome, allows users to test content directly within the browser. Access Assistant provides a testing environment available to designers, developers and quality assurance teams to use throughout the development process. The toolbars allow developers to capture and test web pages directly from the browser into AMP – diagnosing issues directly against the Document Object Module (DOM) of the page. This provides AMP the ability to analyze real-time, dynamic content in a page that is inserted or modified by JavaScript or activated by user interaction. This service is provided directly in a browser testing environment via Access Assistant and supported in both Internet Explorer and Firefox browsers. This testing is integrated with all other AMP testing services and works seamlessly across all testing approaches – formal and informal – supported in AMP. This allows developers to diagnose all iterations of a live page and not just the static code of the page – an approach common in other accessibility tools.

Accessible Development Best Practices

Level Access often works with clients to provide customized accessibility standards and guidelines. These customized accessibility specifications include implementation standards and e-Learning modules that are specific to the client’s development environment. The customization is based largely on findings from an assessment on IT produced by the client either via formal Audit or informal assessment. The accessibility specification will define the target level of accessibility across all of the client’s system and provide a model for prioritizing the standards in the real world. Level Access will provide recommendations to the client about the priority of accessibility requirements in the context of these real world web sites and applications. Such standards will allow for a reduction in the scope of the accessibility requirements the client must implement by about 50% drastically decreasing real world implementation costs.

As part of Standards Development activities, Level Access can customize accessibility best practices to provide client developers with the following: a description of the accessibility issues, a description of Media Types and sub-domains (e.g., web, Flash, PDF), a non-compliant source code example, a compliant source code example, a recommended approach and options for addressing the issue, unit tests allowing for validation of the issue, and sourcing public standards associated with the best practice set.

Reporting

Enterprise level accessibility initiatives demand comprehensive reports that are tailored to specific roles within an organization. AMP supports this requirement by providing detailed reports across a number of parameters, including views of standards-based compliance levels, best practices for identified violations, affected modules, and violation prioritization. These reports allow organizations to document current accessibility status and compliance rates and create a prioritized project plan for addressing issues.
