McNaughton Helps Make Vital Government Information Available Online to People with Physical Disabilities

(STRATHROY, ON) – In an effort to better serve the people of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex, PC MPP Monte McNaughton is proud to announce that he is among the first elected officials to implement eSSENTIAL Accessibility’s assistive technology application on his MPP website. By displaying the application on www.montemcnaughtonmpp.ca, MPP McNaughton is signalling that he is part of an important initiative and coalition of organizations that are coming together for one shared purpose — to empower people with disabilities.

In Canada, 17% of people self-identify as having a physical disability and 1 in 4 families has at least one member with a disability. By implementing the app and joining the coalition, McNaughton is able to engage and empower people with disabilities so they can access crucial local government information while assisting this important segment of people to have their voice heard in their community.

Providing a suite of keyboard and mouse replacement solutions, eSSENTIAL Accessibility’s assistive technology application is completely free of charge to the end user and can be downloaded by clicking the blue wheelchair and keyboard symbol located on the homepage of www.montemcnaughtonmpp.ca. “Government needs to be accessible and work for everyone. This ground-breaking initiative and coalition will help MPPs reach more members of our community and increase their participation in government,” said McNaughton.
